Knee pain is very common. However, treatment for knee pain varies depending on the diagnosis behind your knee pain. After an examination with Dr. Larson, you’ll be on your way to a diagnosis and effective treatment. If Dr. Larson recommends a knee replacement, you can rest assured that your healthcare is in the best hands.

Prosthetics for Knee Replacements

Dr. Larson uses many different types of prostheses depending on the particular patient’s needs. The most common on that Dr. Larson uses, however, is the Stryker Triathlon knee system. The Triathlon Knee has had better results than other knee implants when measuring revision rates on the National Joint Registry of England and Wales.

On Stryker’s website, this study is mentioned here. “With over 10 years and over 2 million implantations worldwide, Triathlon has a long clinical history. In a recent 10 year follow up study, Triathlon showed 99% survivorship.”

This type of prosthetic provides stability and long-lasting results. We want your knee replacement to give you more mobility that’s pain-free and last as long as possible. By using high-quality prosthetics and Mako technology, Dr. Larson can provide you a knee replacement that lasts a lifetime.

Recovering From Your Knee Replacement

Rehabilitation begins almost immediately after your surgery. Within the first 24 hours, you’ll be standing and walking using an assistive device. The earlier you can be mobile, the more quickly you’ll be on your way to recovery. You’ll work closely with a physical therapist throughout your recovery and Dr. Larson will be in touch for follow-up appointments to check how your recovery is progressing. It’s important to stick closely to your treatment plan given to you by your physical therapist. If you are experiencing any pain or swelling that’s more painful than typical soreness from physical therapy, it’s important to communicate this to Dr. Larson. As your recovery progresses, you can expect more mobility with less pain, effectively getting you back to the activities that you love.
